Jack Stark Presents to EPS Coaches

On March 4th, the Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Jack Stark, performance psychologist and founder and director of the National Center for Coaches, to present to EPS coaches and activity directors. Dr. Stark is a former clinical psychologist and has spent decades working with athletes and programs across the country, including UNO, UNL, and Creighton. Stark offered to share his expertise as he is passionate about empowering coaches and supporting young athletes.

Elkhorn Public Schools high school coaches were invited to an evening of insight from Dr. Stark. He noted that if his knowledge could make a coach just 5% better, then it would be worth it.

Dr. Stark emphasized the importance of creating a strong team culture and how the words of a coach can leave a lasting impact on their players. He also shared statistics highlighting the importance of this work: 42% of kids today face a mental health challenge, and 50% of coaches experience burnout. Through his presentation, he reminded coaches that their leadership can make a powerful difference in the lives of their athletes.

Ultimately, Dr. Stark said, “If there is just one thing you do for your players–care about them.” We are so grateful to Jack Stark for sharing his expertise with EPS coaches and providing resources they can carry with them throughout their coaching careers!
