For 35 years, The Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation has been dedicated to enriching education and providing opportunities for students in the Elkhorn Public Schools District. In addition to funding classroom grants for students of all age levels and awarding scholarships to graduating seniors, the Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation honors educators, community members and businesses at its Annual Hall of Fame Reception. This year, the Foundation was thrilled to host its 25th Annual event in the brand new Elkhorn Alumni Center located in the lower level of the Foundation’s office building. On October 24th, over 200 guests were in attendance when the Foundation inducted 10 educators, support staff members, volunteers, alumni, and community boosters into its Hall of Fame.

The Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation held its 7th Annual Bids 4 Kids Ladies Night Out on April 4, 2019 at The Elkhorn Alumni Center, located in the lower level of the Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation building. The fundraiser featured a silent auction, raffles, complimentary appetizers and refreshments. Over 200 guests attended our event, raising more than $47,000 to help fund the Foundation’s Math and Reading Intervention programs at all 11 elementary schools in the Elkhorn Public School District.
Through the Intervention programs, elementary students are tutored before or after school by Elkhorn Public School staff members, helping to improve their overall math and reading comprehension. In the 2018/2019 school year, the Foundation funded over $84,000 in additional teacher instructional time. Last year over 100 teachers provided an additional 3,000 instructional hours outside of the normal school day to over 500 elementary students. With your generous support, the Foundation can continue to fund this growing vital program that is making a difference in students’ test scores and confidence!

The Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation, in partnership with the Elkhorn Soccer Club, held their 3rd Annual 5K Run on Saturday, September 14th. Last year close to 135 participants signed up for the 5K race and 100 yard Kids Dash. The 5K was professionally timed by Black Squirrel Timing and began and ended in the Elkhorn Football Stadium. Prior to the race, 45 kids ran across the Elkhorn High School football field for the 100 yard Kids Dash.
More than just a morning of fun activity, it will be an important event to benefit special education programs for Elkhorn youth. The proceeds will aid both the Elkhorn Soccer Club’s High 5 Program and the Foundation’s Special Education Grant Program for Elkhorn Public Schools. The Soccer Club’s High 5 Program was created through funds raised from the previous 5K runs. It delivers innovative curriculum designed for players who, for physical, mental or emotional reasons, cannot commit to a conventionally structured soccer competition. The program addresses 5 key components/skills: motor, social, sensory, emotional & soccer. Through the Foundation’s Special Education Grant Program, we are able to fund requests from Elkhorn Special Education teachers in the district for items such as thematic language and cross-curricular activities, equipment for sensory processing needs, special education iPads, toys for play skills therapy and much more!
This event would not have been possible without support from the community. Thank you for your support!
