2020 ESHS Scholarships Available
The deadline to submit scholarship applications was 5pm on Friday, January 31, 2020. Scholarship winners were to be recognized at the Foundation’s Scholarship Recognition Breakfasts on April 29th (Elkhorn South High School) or April 30th (Elkhorn High School). Due to the school closures and COVID-19 restrictions, we will not be holding the Scholarship Breakfasts in April.
On April 1st, The Elkhorn Public Schools District announced that the Foundation’s Scholarship Recognition Breakfasts will be tied to the high schools’ graduation date – the Wednesday and Thursday mornings prior to graduation. The District also announced alternative dates for graduation in the event of an extended school closure.
Originally, graduation was scheduled for Sunday, May 17th. However, on the evening of April 1st, Gov. Ricketts announced that all Nebraska schools will be closed through May 31st. The District’s first alternative date for graduation is Sunday, June 14th. Therefore, the Foundation’s Scholarship Breakfasts will be held at Elkhorn South High School on Wednesday, June 10th and at Elkhorn High School on Thursday, June 11th.
The afternoon of April 10th, scholarship applicants were emailed either an invitation to the June breakfast or a regret letter. Emails were sent to the “Student Email” that was provided on the scholarship application. Please note that scholarship winners will not know which scholarship(s) they won until the morning of the June Breakfast.
If it is determined that graduation needs to be moved to a later date, then the District has designated Sunday, July 26th as the latest date to hold graduation ceremonies.
If you have any questions regarding scholarships, please contact Genice Chochon at gchochon@elkhornfoundation.org or (402) 289-1727.
