Bids 4 Kids Virtual Auction Raises Over $36,000 for Elkhorn Public Schools Math & Reading Intervention Programs!

Students from the Spring Ridge Elementary School’s Math Club, a group funded by the Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation.

Although COVID-19 disrupted the Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation’s plans to hold a live fundraising event last spring, the Elkhorn community came together last week (virtually) and raised over $36,000 to help fund Math & Reading Before/After School Intervention Programs for Elkhorn Public Schools.

From September 1 to September 10, more than 360 members of the Elkhorn community participated in the Foundation’s online Bids 4 Kids Auction. Thanks to the generous participants and sponsors of Foundation events like Bids 4 Kids, the Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation provided $57,000 in funding towards Math & Reading Before/ After School Intervention Programs, helping over 500 students during the 2019-2020 school year!

“While we were quickly readjusting the event to take place online, we were unsure of how it would translate,” said Melanie Lucks, Marketing & Development Manager of the Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation. “Even though we really missed seeing all of the faces of our community and the fun that comes with a ‘night out in-person event,’ our fundraiser was still successful because of the amazing supporters of the Foundation.”

This year’s Bids 4 Kids event featured 245 auction items and experiences up for bid, many of which were donated by local businesses and families. Some of the most coveted items included a golf getaway to Dismal River Club, four lower bowl tickets to Maroon 5, Elkhorn Graduation Ceremony Packages, two lower bowl tickets to see comedian Joe Rogan, and a Husker Tailgate Package. 2,333 bids were made over the 10-day online auction.

“Thank you to everyone who participated in our online Bids 4 Kids auction!” said Stacey L. Falk, Executive Director of the Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation. “Because of our supporters, gracious event sponsors, and Foundation team, we are able to continue to provide programs that enrich education and expand opportunities for Elkhorn students!”
